Black Balloon is a series that was developed as part of an international traveling exhibition called “Balloon Stories,” curated by Leo Yuchuan Pan. Each artist would choose a particular color of balloon and make a series of Conceptual Photographs. This exhibition was a reaction to the developing political tensions in China and issues surrounding censorship. We used the images as metaphors to talk about larger issues without being censored by the Chinese government. The show was first shown at Misho Gallery in San Francisco and later in various versions in China.
