Lie Flat and Be Free 躺平

"Tang Ping or 'lying flat' is a movement initiated by Chinese youth that resists increased work pressures, taking an almost monastic approach towards jobs and employment in a work culture defined by longer hours, excessive ambition and few rewards. Lie Flat means to not participate and not conform to societal expectations. This work is for all my friends in China, especially my artist friends, who endure so much pressure from the government to conform to rigid standards and face oppression and being silenced every day. It's important for me to be an active ally even though I'm not currently living there. Every prop is of course made in China in the exact conditions that people are rebelling against. Every picture is layered with double meanings to evade censorship.
